February 2004

AAC&U officers and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak on the value of liberal education at various media and public affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives. We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your campus.

On February 6th, President Carol Geary Schneider will travel to Santa Barbara, California, to attend a meeting of the board of trustees of Antioch College and participate in a conversation about the Renewal Commission for Antioch, on which she served this fall.

On February 12th, Debra Humphreys, Vice President for Communications and Public Affiars, will be the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Guest Lecturer at Elmhurst College in Illinois. In addition to meeting and consulting with students, faculty, and administration, she will deliver an address on "Diversity, Learning, and The Challenges of Patriotism and Civic Engagement."
