October, 2002

AAC&U officers and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak on the value of liberal education at various media and public affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives. We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your campus.

As part of AAC&U's President's Campaign for the Advancement of Liberal Learning (CALL), AAC&U President Carol Geary Schneider will speak at three Campus-Community Dialogues in October, hosted by Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, Duke University and North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the University of Maryland Baltimore County and Prince George's Community College in Baltimore, Maryland. Debra Humphreys, AAC&U vice president for Communications and Public Affairs will speak at a dialogue co-sponsored by Southern Oregon University, Oregon Institute of Technology, and Rogue Community College. Caryn McTighe Musil, AAC&U vice president for Diversity, Equity and Global Initiatives, will represent AAC&U at a dialogue organized by the fourteen-member Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in New Jersey. Watch for more information about other dialogues planned throughout the fall.

Carol Geary Schneider will visit Christopher Newport University on October 3rd, where she will address the university community at the kick-off for the 2002-2003 Dean's Colloquia and will meet with a new Task Force on Curriculum and Academic Life.

On October 19th,
