AAC&U officers and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak on the value of liberal education at various media and public affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives. We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your campus.


AAC&U President Carol Geary Schneider will serve on a panel at the Ohio Articulation and Transfer Advisory Council meeting June 10 and will deliver the keynote address at the Ohio General Education Conference the following day. She is also scheduled to attend Harvard's annual Management and Leadership in Education (MLE) conference on June 17th. Dr. Schneider, who serves on the Advisory Board for MLE, will conduct a session on "Setting Greater Expectations for Undergraduate Accomplishment."


Alma Clayton-Pedersen, vice president for the Office of Education and Institutional Renewal traveled to Shanghai, China from May 26-30 as a delegate from the Boyer Center at Messiah College to the Sino-U.S. Seminar on Non-Governmental Education. The conference included presentations from U.S. and Chinese education leaders and group discussions about higher education theory, operation, and management, and policy related to the development of education in the private sector. Dr. Clayton-Pedersen presented the most recent draft of the AAC&U's Greater Expectations National Panel Report which is expected to be released this fall in its final form.

Debra Humphreys, vice president for the Office of Communications and Public Affairs, will speak on internationalizing higher education at a workshop sponsored by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) in Ottawa, June 20-21. Dr. Humphreys will also consult with AUCC staff members on their "Train Your Brain" campaign to advance liberal arts and sciences majors.
