Shared Futures: Global Learning and Social Responsibility
General Education for a Global Century
Global Learning Leadership Council
The Global Learning Leadership Council is comprised of twelve distinguished national leaders and scholars whose work addresses such issues as global learning, global citizenship, scientific literacy in a global context, intercultural dialogue, religious pluralism, civic engagement, diversity, and social justice. The group will focus the attention of the higher education community and the broader public on fundamental questions of educating undergraduates for global citizenship and personal and social responsibility. The council will convene once a year each fall. Council members will draft essential global learning outcomes and produce a report that maps the intersections between global learning, civic engagement, and US diversity in the context of 21st century student learning . In addition, some council members will serve as consultants for the Summer Institute in 2011. Collectively, council members and project participants will drive a national agenda and set the contours of the next generation of global learning, scientific literacy, and liberal education.
