Liberal Education and America's Promise
Campus Action Network (CAN)
Through the Liberal Education and America’s Promise (LEAP) initiative, the Campus Action Network (CAN) brings together campuses and organizations that are committed to liberal education, helps them to improve their efforts to ensure all students achieve essential liberal education outcomes, and shines a spotlight on campus practices that work.

Joining CAN
LEAP CAN members pledge to proactively advance liberal education for all students—including those who historically have been underserved by the academy. They further pledge to create new ways both to illuminate the benefits of liberal education to students and to develop and publicize practices—curricular, co-curricular, and pedagogical—that help students achieve essential liberal education outcomes.
CAN membership is open to all AAC&U members. To join CAN and immediately enjoy the member benefits, simply:
- Check the list of CAN members to confirm that your institution is not a member of the LEAP CAN.
- Check your AAC&U membership status.
- Fill out the CAN partner form. Be sure to assign a liaison who will receive LEAP communications from AAC&U, and be sure to have the president and provost sign the CAN partner form.
- Return the form to AAC&U by fax at 202-265-9532.
- Tell AAC&U what your institution is doing to advance the LEAP vision on your campus.
